The Steelecase Moveable Wall was introduced in 1971 and by the 1980s the company introduced the Avenir line. These systems have been utilized in thousands of offices across the country. Many of these panels that were manufactured in the ‘80s, are still in use today. RJ Furniture is a leading innovator in the repurposing of these furniture systems. We have spearheaded efforts in sustainability and recycling for the past 40 years.

Our efforts, and those of our clients, have kept hundreds of thousands of tons of waste out of landfills by resizing and refitting panels. RJ’s use of Terratex™ eco-conscious fabric (made of 100% recycled or compostable materials) further demonstrates the care and commitment to reduce waste and provide Earth-friendly products at a fraction of the cost of new furniture.

A FastCompany survey, which was the result of conversations with 1,000 employees at large US companies, found that nearly 40% of millennials choose a job based on the company’s approach to sustainability. Opting for a ‘green’ office is a way for companies to demonstrate a commitment to environmental causes to employees, customers and competitors.

Another reason it’s important to look at sustainability products is because the hybrid workspace is here to stay. The global pandemic has changed the approach to the office space.
